As a qualified 501(c)(19) Veteran non-profit organization, VFW Post 1533 places special emphasis on supporting education at all levels.
The Post's scholarship was created in memory of Staff Sergeant Jeremiah J. Geffre, US Army. The Post meeting hall is dedicated in his name as well.
Through the scholarship, 99 higher education scholarships totaling approximately $105,000 have been awarded over the last 10 years to families of VFW Post 1533's members.
On May 16, 2026, VFW Post 1533 held its annual scholarship award ceremony. There were 6 recipients who each received $1,000 which will be paid directly to their qualified institution of higher learning.
